About

Founded in 1974, the Victorian Society of Labor Lawyers is a not-for-profit membership-based organisation dedicated to advancing progressive law reform and supporting members as part of the broader labour movement. Australia’s largest and oldest movement for social change.

Members are diverse, including solicitors, barristers, legal academics, former members of the judiciary, MPs, union officials and law students who share a commitment to progressive law reform, and the Australian Labor Party's values of economic and social justice, community, fairness and equal opportunity.

Our aim is to inform and encourage the implementation of progressive law reform policy at State and Federal levels by facilitating discussions between the legal profession and the Australian Labor Party.

We bring legal professionals together with Federal and State MPs and Ministers, ALP candidates and the broader labour movement.

Regular events give progressive lawyers the chance to meet, share and gain knowledge, and develop professional associations and friendships.

We also actively support the election of ALP governments at a Federal and State level.

The Society is governed by a Committee and relies solely on donations and ticketed events attended by members and supporters.
